RTI shows corruption in Metro Water

According to an RTI (Right to Information) petition, more than 12 engineers from Chennai Metro Water are being inquired into for taking bribes. Also, it has come to light that criminal proceedings have been filed against field staff for providing connections without bills.
�Were the department to conduct more such raids more heads would roll as other issues would come to light, such as the fact that most of the wa�ter tankers in the city draw more water than sup�po�sed to, thereby violating norms. There is also no official data on the number of illegal con�n�ections that drain sewerage into storm water dr�ains�, said Civil Activist E. Balasubramani.
