Today Amma Thittam camps are scheduled to be held in five zones in Chennai District. The grievances of the people related to disbursal of welfare assistances, old-age pension, social security schemes, patta transfer, free house site patta, community certificate, birth and death certificates.

Tomatoes sold for Rs 7 per kilo
The prices of tomatoes are going down day by day in Chennai. Four months back tomatoes were sold for Rs 100 per kilo. Since the prices were high, the farmers started harvesting more tomatoes. This resulted in heavy inflow of tomatoes in the market.

Madras Week to be celebrated from 21st August to 28th August
Various programmes including exhibition are being organized on the occasion of 377th Madras Day anniversary from 21st August to 28th August. Historian S. Muthiah who is one of the coordinator of Madras Day programmes said: The founding day of Madras is considered to be August 22, 1639.

Deepavali crackers to be hiked by 5 percent only

24 transmission signals intercepted but none of them from the ill-fated aircraft
The search teams searching the missing AN 32 IAF flight have so far found about 30 floating objects and intercepted 24 transmission signals but none of them were from the ill-fated aircraft.The plane went missing while flying back from Chennai to Port Blair.

Heavy traffic jam at Perungalathur
Due to three serious accidents, the traffic is chocking in Perungalathur near Tambaram. At Perungalathur, the traffic is choked, with motorists finding it difficult to bypass the traffic on the highway. Police are doing their best to regulate the traffic.
