AREAS IN CHENNAI

Anna Nagar is a residential neighbourhood in the metropolitan city of Chennai (Madras), India. It is in west Chennai and the areas to the west of Anna Nagar are some of the fastest developing parts of the city.[citation needed] It has always been a smart and affluent suburb, but more recently, in addition to being a popular residential area, Anna Nagar has also become a busy commercial and educational center.

Anna Nagar was developed by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board in the early 1970s following the World Trade Fair in the area in 1968. The board developed residential plots, apartments, commercial complexes, wide roads, school zones, bus terminus and large parks.
