Tamil Nadu, Chennai in particular, over exploiting ground water
According to the State Public Works Department, as many as three districts in western Tamil Nadu and the entire Chennai district top the table on exploitation of groundwater, according to the State Public Works Department.

Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa hospitalized
Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa who fell ill around 11.30 pm was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. Jayalalithaa complained of fever and dehydration and was admitted in Apollo hospitals

Palm trees will stand guard for the citys about 25-km coastline
In order to sea erosion near the sea shore, the Chennai Corporation has decided to plant grow up palm trees. The fishermen residences near the sea shore in Foreshore Estate, Srinivasapuram and Ennore are severely eroded by sea.
