A fresh low-pressure area is has developed over Northwest Bay of Bengal off North Odisha and West Bengal coast. According to Skymet Weather, weather conditions are favorable for the system to get more marked.

Ever since the beginning of August, Chennai has been receiving isolated light rains. However, on one or two occasions, the city has also received some moderate spells. On the last day as well, some light rains.

The convergence of winds are happening close to Chennai. Normally South AP and North TN never gets this rains. Chennai will see good monsoon rains today and tomorrow.

Massive massive rains reported in Cauvery Catchment in Kodagu, Chikmagalur and Wayand. Semma rains have lashed ghat areas of Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Nilgiris and Valparai.

The Director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, informed that there are prospects of mild to heavy rain in the next 24 hours in Tamil Nadu as a low-pressure formation is prevalent over the Bay of Bengal.

The Indian Weather Bureau has warned that there are strong prospects of heavy rain in 16 states throughout the country including Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Kerala, and Karnataka for the next 2 days.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that as a cyclonic formation has developed in the upper layers of the over the Central-west Bay of Bengal and the South Andhra coastal areas, there are prospects of rain.
