5 bids offering free set top box to Arasu Cable TV

In May this year, the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Ltd had announced a global tender for supplying STBs. Now, it has received 5 bids that provide free set top boxes for 75 lakh subscribers.
These bids and all its pre-qualification documents will now be scrutinized by the cable corporation. After this, each and every file will be verified for its technical specifications. Sample set top boxes will then be sent for approval to the Government of India laboratory for testing.
On examining these boxes, qualified bidders will be shortlisted. And eligible ones will be invited on a scheduled date when price bids will be announced. During the session, the qualified bidders and winners shall be announced.
For the entire process to get over, it may take about 2 weeks. By end of the month, a clear picture can be expected, said a senior official from TACTV.
Deadline:
The deadline to submit bids was actually extend, as prominent bidders had several queries and doubts about the mid May meeting. At last, the bidding came to an end by 3pm on Wednesday.
In a couple of months, STB distribution is likely to start. The process flow will be decided later on. Chennai may be the first city to have the distribution started with.
