Chennai Metro Rail Managing Director: Workshop to be constructed in Madhavaram for trains on corridors 3 and 5!

The Managing Director of the Chennai Metro Rail Company, Siddique, has informed us that a special workshop will be constructed for 284/- Crores at Madhavaram for the trains operating in Chennai Metro Rail Corridord 3 & 5!
The Chennai Metro Rail Company Managing Director Siddique undertook a visit-cum-inspection of the progress on the construction of a workshop at Madhavaram covering an area of 48.89 acres on Corridor 5 for Rs. 284.51 Crores.
This workshop is designed for a capacity to keep 110 Metro Trains with 3 coaches each.
This workshop will have 24 separate tracks where the retrains will be stationed on 10 tracks and 7 tracks for maintenance and repair works of these trains and 7 more tracks for conducting detailed analysis on the trains.
Apart from this, a separate testing track of 1.4 km length is also to be set up!
In this regard, the Managing Director of the Chennai Metro Rail Company Siddique shared:
"This huge workshop is being constructed for maintaining the metro trains and cleaning them and to be able to undertake technical service required,
In future, this workshop will accommodate all the trains on service in corridors 3 & 5!
It is planned to complete the entire construction work of the Madhavaram workshop before the end of 2024!"
