Last weekend, CMRL grabbed the attention when it cleaned and disinfected 2 major metro stations.

The news that has come out now is CMRL has begun sanitizing all the 32 metro stations and the metro trains in Chennai on a daily basis. This is mainly to protect the commuters from the dangerous Coronavirus attack. Adopting precautionary measures and spreading awareness among the passengers is now given huge importance and for that metro rail has given instructions to the metro station staffs.

Cleaning contact spots such as handrails at the stations plus elevators and escalators etc would be given priority now. This was mentioned by an official belonging to CMRL. It is known that Chennai Central metro station and Chennai airport metro station are used by many commuters and these stations more passengers from other cities. Last weekend began sanitizing the premises of these 2 important metro stations.

Monthly maintenance activities like fumigating trains on a daily basis plus spraying disinfectants and cleaning the handrails manually with a chemical that is effective against coronavirus stains have been done by CMRL. It was revealed by a metro official that they have identified another chemical that is effective against Covid.

He then threw light on the precautionary measures that were sent as text messages to the passengers. It must be noted that at the Koyambedu based head office of CMRL, the employees have been asked to manually mark their attendance in a register instead of using biometric devices. The large LED screen has been installed at the entrance for providing awareness messages.
