Four more metro rail formations arrive in Chennai

During the first week of this month, four metro rails arrived in Chennai one after another. With the arrival of these formations, the metro rails have been increased by 29.
The four metro rail formations manufactured in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh were brought to Chennai by trailers.
It was decided to manufacture 42 rail formations for Chennai Metro Rail. Each formation consists of 4 coaches. The coaches are manufactured by Alstom in Brazil. It was decided to manufacture 9 formations in Brazil and the balance 33 rail formations at Andhra. All the coaches manufactured in Brazil have arrived in Chennai.
Alstom has set up one of its branches at Sri City in Andhra Pradesh to manufacture the coaches. A coach is manufactured at the cost of Rs 9 Crores. The entire metro rail coaches will be manufactured at a cost of Rs 1471 Crores 39 Lakhs.
One of the metro rail official while speaking said, Daily 10 coaches are being operated between Koyambedu and Alandur. Suppose if there is any predicament in the coaches, two more coaches will be kept ready in the same track. Now four more metro rails have arrived from Andhra. Now we have 29 coaches.
