A snippet on the rush and rash of MTC bus drivers

Posted on: 31/Oct/2014 3:01:16 PM

The next time you travel in an MTC, remember not just to blame the driver for over speeding the vehicle, there is a lot more to think on the pressure imposed on them indirectly in terms of keeping up the timing.

Turning back pages of history of the transport corporation which was the Pallan Transport Corporation (PTC), they did a detailed planning development in the year 1985. They fixed a standard timing of 35 minutes for a public transport bus to swing between Broadway and Mylapore.

Considering 2005, a similar study was made, but the results were not showcased to the public and it roamed only around the transport authorities for few untold reasons.

A furious bus driver with the MTC wants us to make an approximate estimation of total number of cars and two-wheelers in the city now, and compare it with that of 1985 time period. The then time had hardly few cars wandering around the city. Considering a random move between Central and Teynampet, how would it consume the same estimated time period which was fixed three decades ago, especially when there are a number of factors affecting the duration?
