The Chennai Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory, predicting the likelihood of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in certain areas of Tamil Nadu today, September 25.

Director of the Chennai Meteorological Research Center, P. Chenthamarai Kannan, stated in a press release issued yesterday that an atmospheric upper circulation has formed in the South-Eastern Arabian Sea and the adjacent Lakshadweep areas. Furthermore, there has been a shift in the speed of the westerly winds heading towards Tamil Nadu.

As a result of these weather patterns, it is expected that some regions in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry will experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning today. Similar weather conditions are anticipated to persist from tomorrow until the 30th, with scattered instances of light to moderate rainfall.

Chennai and its surrounding areas can expect partly cloudy skies over the next 48 hours. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning in certain parts of the city. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 95 degrees Fahrenheit, while the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 79 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fishermen operating in South Tamil Nadu coastal regions, Gulf of Mannar, and the adjoining Kumari Sea areas are advised to exercise caution as wind speeds may reach 40 to 50 km per hour on the 27th and 28th, with occasional gusts of up to 60 km per hour. Cyclonic winds are also a possibility during this period. Therefore, it is recommended that fishermen refrain from venturing into the sea on the aforementioned dates, as stated in the press release.
