Abdul Kalam National Memorial - Visitors can have the full access to all parts

From 1st January, the visitors to the Dr. Abdul Kalam National Memorial located in Rameshwaram will be allowed to the entire memorial.

The former president Dr. Abdul Kalam passed away on 27th July 2015. He died in Shillong, Meghalaya State and his body was brought to his native place, Rameshwaram. After the final prayers by the public, the body was buried in Peikarumbu in Rameswaram.

Abdul Kalam National memorial was set up in the place of his burial on behalf of the Security and Safety Research and Development Department.

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, inaugurated this memorial on the 2nd death anniversary of Dr. Abdul Kalam.

Subsequently, tourists visiting Rameswaram, students, and foreigners have been allowed to visit this memorial.

The painting about his life, photos, and sculptures, the items used by him, the models designed by him, and a host of other items are displayed in the memorial.

A bronze statue of Dr. Abdul Kalam with Veena is also on display.

As the activities are yet to be completed, the visitors were not being allowed to enter all the 4 display centres in the memorial. Some rare photographs of Dr, Abdul Kalam, the prototypes designed by him, and some statues are displayed. These activities of setting up the displays were in progress. Now, this has come to a completion stage.

So, from 1st  January, the visitors will be allowed to see the entire memorial.
