Petrol price up by Rs. 6 per litre in the last 2 months

Since the month of July, the price of petrol has gone up by Rs. 6 per litre. Due to this rise, the petrol price has touched the max price in the last 3 years. The price of diesel has also gone up by Rs. 3.67.

Earlier, the public sector oil undertakings decided the prices once in 15 days. The revised prices were announced on the 1st and 15th of every month. However, from 1st June this year, a new system of daily changes in petrol and diesel prices has been implemented.

Petrol was sold at Rs. 65.48 per litre in Delhi on 16th June. On 2nd July, the price came down to Rs. 63.06 per litre. However, since 2nd July, the price of petrol has gone up every day except a single day.

The price of diesel was Rs. 54.49 on 15th June. It came down to Rs. 53.36 on 2nd July, The price of diesel has been going up since 2nd July. Earlier, when the prices were being revises once in 15 days, the change in prices will vary by Rs.1 or Rs. 2 per litre. However, in the current system, the change in price is in Paise. So, a higher official from the oil sector company observed that the people have not felt the burden as the increase is only in Paise.
