Thaipusam festival at Pazhani starts on 3rd February with sacred flag-hoisting ceremony

The most important festivals celebrated in the famous Pazhani Lord Dhandayudhapani Temple, Thaipusam, is scheduled to start on 3rd February with the sacred flag-hoisting ceremony.
It is to be noted that the devotees have already started arriving as a pilgrimage to Pazhani.
The devotees from Madurai, Sivagangai, Ramanathapuram, Trichy, Coimbatore, Karur, Tirupur, Theni, and Dindigul districts have taken the penance to come by foot and arrive at Pazhani by foot. As the festival nears, more devotees in thousands are expected daily.
Security and safety arrangements are being beefed up to take care of the visiting devotees. A police official informed that it is likely that over 3000 police personnel will be deployed during the occasion of Thaipusam.
26 Information Centres are being set up to keep informing info such as lost children, etc.
More than 7 Surveillance monitoring towers will be set up and monitored. They are located in the Giri Road and the mountain area
On the walking routes for the devotees, a policeman will be on rounds for every 3 km. The fire-fighting squads and the police staff who are good in swimming are deployed in Idumbankulam and Shanmuga River.
