7-storeyed parking building to be inaugurated shortly in Chennai

With increasing inflow of people coming to Chennai Metro City seeking jobs and on other pursuits, there is a constraint in the city for living space.
Out of various problems, parking 2-wheeler & 4-wheeler parking has become one of the most acute.
To relieve this problem, Chennai Metro Corporation has been building a multi-storeyed parking complex in the city.
This is expected to be inaugurated shortly. Testing of the parking arrangement is in progress. Chennai Corporation officials inform that this will be inaugurated in a few days.
It is notable that this will be the first multi-storeyed parking complex in Chennai City.
The multi-storeyed parking complex has been under construction over the last 3 years located opposite Apollo Hospital in Wallace Garden Road adjacent to Greams Road.
The parking complex can accommodate 330 cars and 220 2-wheelers.
The parking charges will be Rs. 30/- per hour for cars and Rs. 5/- per hour for 2-wheelers.
Apollo Hospital & Mark Axis have been jointly constructing this parking complex. As per the contract agreement with Chennai Corporation, once the parking complex is in operation, a part of the revenue will be given to Chennai Corporation.
A Chennai Corporation official informed the press reporters that testing regarding parking of 2-wheelers has been completed. Testing for car parking is in progress. Once the tests are successfully completed, the multi-storeyed parking complex will be inaugurated for public use.
A similar multi-storeyed parking complex has been planned in Nungambakkam and the analytical report is complete. Corporation owns a truck/lorry repair workshop in the area opposite Sangeetha Hotel in Nungambakkam High Road.
A parking complex with lift-and-move arrangement is being planned to be constructed here.
There were plans to build parking complexes in NSC Bose Road & Broadway Bus Terminus. As a sky-walk is also proposed to be built here, the parking complex will be built integrated with the proposed sky-walk.
