Transport Employees Unions announce strike during 1st week of March!

Transport employees’ unions have been demanding an early settlement of the Transport Employees’ 12th wage agreement and went on strike.
A 12-member committee appointed by the state government had discussions with the unions on 11th February. Applications from 42 unions were received. Hence, the discussions could not be conducted.
A special meeting regarding the transport employees grievances and problems was conducted yesterday (16th February) at the workshop at Chennai Pallavan Road. All unions’ representatives participated. They demanded that the discussions should start by 5.00 PM. However, this was not possible. As a result, the unions announced their decision to go on strike.
They would go on strike from 3rd March or after that.
