Import of Rs.11580 Crores worth of Gold & Silver in January!

During the month of January, India had imported Rs. 11580 Crores worth of gold and silver.
India stands 2nd in the list of countries in the demand for gold with China being the 1st
The import of gold and silver from various countries is required to make up for the shortfall in the country. In the current year 2015, during the month of January alone, Rs. 9300 Crores worth gold and Rs. 2280 Crores worth of silver have been imported. The comparative figures for last year January (2014) was only Rs. 10380 Crores.
Last year (2014), the import for maximum amount of Rs. 37500 Crores was done during November.
The central ministry of Commerce and trading has given this information.
