Exclusive insurance plans for surgeries

Recently on Tuesday, the life insurance company ltd, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance launched a treatment-specific insurance plan named ‘Surgical Protection Plan’. It covers over 600 surgeries and guarantees benefit amount that’s based on the type of surgical procedure performed. Speaking during the launch event, spokesperson of Bajaj Allianz said the policy includes 11 different plans ranging between 1 lakh and 10 lakh. “It is a one-of-a-kind policy in the industry,” he pointed.
“On studying various claims and customer feedback, we came to know about the need for treatment-specific policies rather than generalized and expensive hospitalization plans. This newly launched one is an affordable plan that is exclusively introduced for surgery covers,” said the South zonal manager of the insurance company, Lalitha Raman. She also added that more than 54 per cent of claims are towards surgeries. This is evident of the increasing demand for specific policies for surgeries.
The policy is categorized into three major grades – minor, major and supra-major and day care procedures.
