To travel in Chennai Metro Rail one has to purchase ticket fare token. The token will be issued after you pay the cost for the required destination. You will be allowed to enter the railway station after you drop the token.
During the Governor’s address at the Tamil Nadu State Assembly, it was mentioned that the underground metro rail services will commence soon in Chennai. While speaking, the Governor said.
In order to attract the people, Chennai Metro Rail Limited will be conducting a food and music carnival on 21st and 22nd at Vadapalani Metro Rail Station.
In order to ease the traffic congestion in Chennai, the Metro Rail scheme is being implemented. The works are going on in two corridors for the distance of 45 kms.
Chennai Metro rail scheme will function in two corridors. It comprises two corridors- corridor 1 from Washermanpet to Airport and corridor 2 from Central to St Thomas Mount.
3 new metro rail routes to be introduced

Three new metro rail routes across 114 km distance are likely to be introduced. A magnificent depot spread over 2 lakh square meter will be set up for the same.
