Tunneling works beneath Gemini flyover by CMRL

Tunneling works underneath the old landmark of the city Anna Flyover or Gemini Flyover are to be carried out by the Chennai Metro Rail. Earlier, there were plans for avoiding the flyover. However, sources say that the tunnel will now partially cross the flyover.
As per sources from the Chennai Metro Rail Limited and the Highways Department, with any one of these two tunnels, one will be able to travel through the service lane close to U.S. Consulate till the flyover and take left to go towards Teynampet.
Beneath the flyover, passing through the approach ramp, the other tunnel will be set up. This will run until statue of the horse. There will be a turn at the clover, along the one other tunnel.
In another one week, works are to get over:
Between Thousand Lights and AG-DMS, tunneling works are now carried out. On either tunnels, works to construct tunnel shall get over in one week, say officials.
However, for these tunnels to reach the final point, about one month time will be needed. By then, the complete phase-1 of the tunneling work will be over.
According to metro rail officials, many precautionary measures are taken to ensure that the tunneling work doesn’t disturb the flyover in anyway.
