The TNERC - Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission, has said no to a petition from the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd, or CMRL, to provide concessional power tariff retrospectively.
Everything has been cleared for the opening of the second stretch of Chennai Metro Rail with the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) approving the service between Little Mount and Chennai airport.
Officials of CMRL have mentioned that the underground stretch between Koyambedu and Shenoy Nagar will be inspected by the Railway Safety Commissioner during the month of September.
The phase I of the CMRL project covers 45 km of the city that extends from Washermanpet to Chennai airport (23 km) and Chennai Central to St. Thomas Mount (22 km).
After getting approval from Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety, Metro Rail is expected to start commercial operations on the 8.33 km Chennai Airport-Little Mount stretch during the month of August.
