Tips to avoid illnesses during the rains

The rains bring along with it many diseases. Eating healthy is one of the ways to avoid illnesses during this time. Here are a few tips.
 
Eat light. There is nothing tastier than fried bajjis or pakoras when it’s raining. Try to avoid these. Make sure to add vegetables and fruits to your diet, eating food items like pulses and rice is also a great option. The idea is to eat foods that can be digested easily. If you eat green leafy vegetables, make sure you clean them properly before consuming them.
 
Use oils such as olive oil, ghee or sunflower oil to cook your food. These are light oils and can be easily digested.
 
Avoid roadside eateries when it rains. Food there is more likely to be contaminated at these times. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before use.
 
Keep yourself hydrated. Even when it is cooler, it is very important to drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water. Water helps in dissolving soluble fiber and fats, helping them to pass through quite easily.
