A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition says that, contrary to belief, an egg a day does not increase the risk of heart attack. The study was conducted by researchers at the University of Eastern Finland.

The study shows that no association was found between heart disease and eating an egg a day. Also, the study says that there was association between dietary cholesterol and the thickening of common carotid artery walls.

The findings of the study show that the belief that a high cholesterol diet or the frequent consumption of eggs and the increased risk of cardiovascular diseases, does not hold water. The researchers said that even in people who are genetically predisposed to a greater effect of dietary cholesterol on serum cholesterol levels, the link was not established.
