Some simple methods to reduce the amount of oil used in cooking

Most of the people tend to get confused about the selection of the best oil while cooking.
  • Experts suggest that a mixture of the following oils would serve best:
  • Corn-oil or Sunflower oil containing Poly-unsaturated fatty acids (PUFA)
  • Ground-nut oil, Mustard oil, and soya oil containing Mono-unsaturated Fatty Acids (MUFA)
Olive oil is better than all of the above mentioned oils. However, it is more expensive.

High Cholesterol is the main reason for heart-related diseases.

Bad cholesterol gets accumulated in the blood from the saturated cholesterol. During this process, cholesterol level in the blood increases leading to blood pressure.

Some methods to reduce the level of oil usage:
  • Do not keep the flame level high while frying food with oil.
  • Never use the oil that was used & heated once. This is a serious mistake.
  • Don`t keep oil in plastic bottles exposed to sunlight.
  • Don`t use ladles to take oil from the can - use only spoons.
  • Steam the vegetables and then use less oil while cooking them
