If your find your tot creating a fuss when it is his eating time, you may then have to be more attentive to him as a new study claims eating habits are not just about eating and food, but a vital indicator of mental problems as well. According to the research published in the Pediatrics, eating habits and mental problems are told to have got a very strong link.

The research project was headed by Dr Nancy Zucker. This involved studying about 3000 children aging between 2 and 6. According to the results of the study, selective eaters were twice likely to be diagnosed of mental issues such as depression unlike others. The study result was published in the Daily Mail.

Limited or selective eating patterns in children may have impact on the growth of them. It may also lead to trust issues between the child and parent.

According to the study, selective eating may be a result of mothers with elevated levels and conflicts on food. Few children have got heightened senses who will get overwhelmed by smell, texture and tastes of select foods, says Dr Zucker. Bad experiences with select food types may also lead to increased levels of anxiety in life later.
