Some food items with low calories!

Vegetables like broad beans and ‘mochai’ are appreciated as poor man’s vegetables/food items.

They are also rich in protein and fibre while being low in fat content.

Taking them twice in a week is good enough as they are low calories items and keep weight under check.

Green peas, beans, ‘karamani;, etc can be used in other days. Green & purple coloured brinjals (eggplants) are good for brain & muscles.

Hence, make it regular to include brinjal as a tasty & healthy food! It is rich in nutrients and also helps for a sound sleep!

Some low calorie food items like broccoli help in the birth of perfectly healthy children without any defect and also keep the bones strong.Broccoli is the riches in iron content among all vegetables.

Oats is another low calorie item which contains twice the amount of protein as compared to hand-pounded rice. Oats also gives instantaneous carbohydrate.

If oats is added while making chapathi or rice, body weight will be kept under check.

Taking ‘parangikkaai’ (a variety of pumpkin) once a week, will keep your youthful energy intact!

Our body requires additional carotenoid.

When carotenoid is provided in your diet, it delays the ageing process. Parangikkaai is so rich in carotenoid.

This vegetable can be used in combination with all other vegetables in cooking. One of the different kinds of pulses (Bengal gram, split gram, green gram, etc) can be added. Seeds of parangikkai are also edible items.

It is better to keep in mind that all low calorie food items help maintain body weight under control!
