Cherry juice helps reduce arthritis pain, study reports

According to reports by recent researches, consumption of cherry juice concentrate helps beat gout.

Various researches are being conducted to analyze the helpfulness of tart cherries in acting as a pain reliever. The fruit is suspected to be of help in treating pain out of arthritis or gout to exercise-related pain, say researchers.

A recent study reports that consumption of Montmorency tart cherries makes changes in uric acid metabolism which in turn has got significant impact on joint pain. The fruit concentrate also has effect on anthocyanin compounds found in the bloodstream.

Reports state that Montmorency tart cherry juice helps reduction of blood levels of uric acid and C - reactive protein.

High levels of uric acid are associated with gout which is a form of arthritis. This gives rise to attacks and severe body pain and swelling or inflammation in joints, big toe and other leg and arm joints.

The research involved examination of 12 healthy patients aging around 26 years. The Montmorency tart cherry juice was given in two doses – one ounce concentrated with 100 ml of water, and 2 ounces the juice concentrated with 100 m of water. The consumption was made in the morning and before dinner.
