Posted on: 29/Jan/2014 10:25:34 AM
CMRL has terminated the contract of Consolidated Construction Consortium Ltd who was taking care of the stations between St Thomas Mount-Koyambedu lines. Consolidated Construction Consortium Ltd(CCCL) were terminated because it failed to keep the deadline. The corporation has also terminated contracts to build elevated stations from Little Mount to OTA.

The company had three contracts. These will be split into four or five packages valued at less than 100 crore each so that it will be easier for firms to invest. The tenders will be floated immediately and priority will be given to work that needs to be completed to commission the Koyambedu-St Thomas Mount line. The OTA airport line has also been split into two packages after a single contract given to Lanco had to be terminated.

CCCL has completed structural work in Koyambedu, CMBT, Vadapalani, Arumbakkam and Ashok Nagar and had started interior work but even the basic structure of stations remains incomplete at Sidco, Alandur and St Thomas Mount. The line is expected to be commissioned by end of this year.

The contracts to build stations on Koyambedu-St Thomas Mount line will be split into smaller packages to make it easier for firms to invest.
