A water soluble vitamin that is involved in metabolism is vitamin B12 or cobalamin. The vitamin B12 plays an important role in nervous system maintenance. It is noteworthy that vitamin B12 helps in myelin sheath formation. That is a protective sheath around the nerves. By this, there would be nerve transmission. Nerve damage would occur due to the vitamin B12 deficiency. The vitamin B12 also plays its role in the production of red blood cells in the bone marrow. The deficiency of vitamin B12 must be considered seriously and must be treated well. The deficiency of this vitamin would be shown by various signs in us.

There are some unusual signs of vitamin B12 deficiency and these are

Tingling or numbness:

The nerve damage could be caused due to lack of vitamin B12 and this would be shown by tingling sensations, numbness etc.

Memory issues:

Our cognitive function and memory could be affected due to deficiency of vitamin B12. Those with vitamin B12 deficiency would have poor memory, confusion, difficulty in concentration etc.

Vision changes:

Nerve damage due to vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to vision changes like double vision or blurred vision etc.

Fatigue and weakness:

Point is that vitamin B12 plays a role in energy production and its deficiency could lead to fatigue, weakness etc.

Pale skin type:

The breakdown of red blood cells leading to anaemia could lead to pale or yellowish coloured skin that is similar to jaundice skin.

Severe mood changes:

It must be noted that vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to anxiety, irritation or mood swings etc. So, please take care.

Glossitis:

There are also chances of getting glossitis on the tongue or inflammation. This can lead to swollen or reddish or sore tongue etc.

Heart palpitations:

We could get heart palpitations or irregular heart beat due to deficiency of vitamin B12. So this is also another sign of vitamin B12 deficiency.

Muscle weakness or spasms etc:

The impaired nerve function and reduced oxygen supply to muscles due to vitamin B12 deficiency would result in muscle weakness or spasms etc.
