Countdown to Windergy India 2023: Chennai to Host Renewable Energy Summit on October 4

The highly anticipated Windergy India 2023 Summit is set to kick off on October 4th, running for three days at the prestigious Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam. This event promises to be a game-changer in the field of renewable energy, with a significant delegation from Denmark and other global players in attendance.
Technological advancements, coupled with local manufacturing of key components like gearboxes and generator blades, as well as the construction of taller towers, have revolutionized the wind energy sector. These innovations have made it possible to harness electricity even in regions with historically low wind speeds.
Highlighting the successful Indo-Danish Energy partnership, Eske Bo Rosenberg, Mission Head at the Consulate General of Denmark, underscored the strong relationship between the two countries. Denmark, with a renewable energy capacity of 2.3 gigawatts (GW), is poised to become a notable exporter of renewable energy thanks to its expertise in wind sector analysis.
The summit is jointly organized by the Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturing Association (IWTMA) and PDA Ventures. Saravanan Manickam, Country Head of Nordex, emphasized the industry`s transformation, with projects boasting 5-megawatt (MW) rotor diameters and taller towers enabling electricity production even in low-wind-speed areas.
D.V. Giri, Secretary of IWTMA, announced a significant development – a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC). This agreement aims to explore opportunities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to play a pivotal role in both the supply and demand sides of the wind energy sector.
Parag Sharma, President of Wind Independent Power Producers’ Association (WIPPA) and founder of O2 Power, also shared insights during the press conference.
The Windergy India 2023 Summit is not just about discussions; it`s also a platform for celebrating achievements. As part of the event, there are plans to release a coffee table book commemorating 25 years of the IWTMA.
