Sacred Maha Sivarathri Day: Prayers and special poojas performed throughout the day & night in several temples!

On the sacred occasion of Maha Sivarathri observed yesterday (Thursday, 11th March), Special prayers, Poojas and Abhishekhams were performed in all the temples dedicated to Lord Siva!
In the Thanjavur Grand Big Temple dedicated to Lord Siva as Brhahadeeswarar Temple, 16 special Abhishekhams were performed on the main deity with items such as milk, curd, sandal, and honey, etc. Subsequently, the main deity was especially adorned and Maha Deepaaradhanai was performed.
Earlier, the dance artists prayed to Lord Siva performing special dances at the Nandhi Mandapam Dais
On this special sacred occasion of Maha Sivarathri, special Abhishekhams and special Deeparadhanai were performed on all the deities including the main deity at the Sanctum Sanctorum of the main deity Lord Vanmeekanathar, Lord Asaleswarar, Lord Kasi Viswanathar, Lord Indiran, Bhoojithalingam, Goddess Kamalambal, and Lord Sapthanathar at the famous temple of Lord Theagarajar at Thiruvarur.
