Over the next 24 hours, the northern districts are expected to get moderate rains and this would be due to the rain bands moving across TN. It is said that the city of Chennai would have rains for the next 2 days. This has been mentioned by some weather experts.

Mr. N. Puviarasan, director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC, Chennai, explained about how showers or thundershowers would occur at one or two places in north TN, Puducherry and Karaikal.

He added that few places belonging to south TN would receive light to moderate rains. The maximum temperature and minimum temperature record at Meenambakkam was 28.5 degrees Celsius and 23.4 degrees Celsius and in Nungambakkam the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded were 29 degrees Celsius and 24.7 degrees Celsius. There were 5.5mm of rains recorded at Nungambakkam and 9.3mm rains at Meenambakkam yesterday.

Weather blogger Mr. K. Srikanth of Chennai Rains brought out that rain bands giving rains over the coastal places around Delta to Puducherry started moving inland and due to this there would be moderate rains over parts of interior TN. From today, southern parts of TN might also see increased rains. He concluded that Chennai might have cloudy skies with light rains.
