Onset of winter season - Misty mornings in Chennai for another 3 days

If you had travelled in your bike in the early mornings in Chennai city in the last few days, then you would have noticed your knuckles becoming cold!!

It has been misty in the early mornings plus nippy now in Chennai and it is now said that this weather would be there for another 3 days. This would be due to the onset of winter.

As per an official belonging to the meteorological department, this weather would continue for 3 days. He highlighted about the cold winds from the north that have played their part for the misty mornings in Chennai. Fact is that the water content in the air is high and when the cold air from north combines with the warm air from the sea over Chennai then it would lead to mist in the night plus in early mornings. He spoke about the mist that remained close to noon when the atmosphere got warm because of sunlight.

Ideal situation for mist to form:
It is worthy to mention that humidity below 78% has been playing its role in the formation of mist in Chennai. On Monday morning, Chennai had a combination of both these. In the month of January, Chennai usually experiences foggy or misty mornings is well known to us.

The nights would be cold and days would be nippy in Chennai and this was as per a forecast from the IMD. The conditions of the sky would be partly cloudy in Chennai on Tuesday and on Wednesday with a maximum temperature around 30 degrees Celsius and minimum around 21 degrees Celsius. This was according to the forecast. It must be taken into account that in the night time temperature has been hovering around 21 degrees Celsius. The temperature on Sunday was 21 degrees and the mercury dropped to 20.05 degrees on Saturday, 26th December.
