Intense and short rains in Chennai in the next 2 days

The southern districts belonging to TN and coastal places have been getting rains continuously now and this has been due to the low pressure area by the Gulf of Mannar. This low pressure has remained static.
It is worthy to mention that on Monday Thoothukudi received 16cm to 11 cm of rainfall and other places like Nagapatinam, Kanyakumari and Karaikal received 9cm rainfall each.
Mr. N. Puviarasan, director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre, RMC, Chennai expressed his thoughts. He said that a low pressure area over Gulf of Mannar still persists and thunderstorms with lightning are likely to occur at isolated places over TN, Puducherry and in Karaikal. The isolated parts of TN are likely to get heavy rains. Places in Chennai like Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam received 3.8mm and 7.7 mm rainfall respectively. There would be light to moderate rains in Chennai city in the next 48 hours along with thunderstorms also.
The maximum temperature in Chennai is likely to be 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperatures are likely to be 24 degrees Celsius. In the next 2days, we might witness easterly winds moving in easily with the new circulation in the Arabian Sea. Information collected is that interior districts like Erode, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, the Nilgiris, Virudhunagar and Tenkasi etc would get rains. Moderate rains would also be there in other districts in TN. This was brought out by the famous blogger Mr. Pradep John.
The weather officials were of the view that places like Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Chengalpet, Tirunelveli, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Mayiladuthurai etc would receive thunderstorms with heavy rains. Mr. Pradeep John then added that isolated areas in TN especially coastal districts are likely to get light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms. He concluded that there would be intense but short rains in the Chennai city in the mornings and in the nights.
