Weight gain during menopause could be because of these factors

Natural and permanent stopping of menstruation is termed as menopause and it is an important stage in the life of every woman. It must be taken into account that when the ovaries stop releasing eggs every month then it is the starting of menopause in a woman.

Various issues a woman gets in her menopause are High BP, high cholesterol level, osteoporosis, low estrogen etc. Women put on weight in their menopause stage.

There are few reasons for the weight gain during menopause.

Hormonal changes:
In the menopause there would be decrease in the estrogen levels in women. It is known that estradiol (form of estrogen) helps in regulation of metabolism and it decreases in the menopause. This could lead to weight gain.

Lack of exercise:
In their menopausal stage, women don’t show interest in exercising. This could lead to rapid weight gain in them. Hence it is important to do simple exercises atleast.

Lack of sleep:
Hot flashes and night sweating takes place in women during menopause is known. These two issues could be due to the absence of estrogen and progesterone hormones in menopause. This could prevent them from having good sleep. In the end, weight gain would occur.

Consuming unhealthy foods:
Weight gain could also be due to intake of unhealthy foods like processed and spicy foods. It is necessary that women must have healthy well balanced diet in their menopause stage.

Genetics:
It is said that genetics could also be the reason behind the weight gain in the women in the menopause.

By these ways weight gain could be avoided in menopause:
It is possible to shed off the extra weight by aerobics or by strength training exercises. Women must cut down on the intake of processed foods. It is also important that women should not drink alcohol as it might lead to weight gain.
