Important revisions in NEET

It is mandatory to write NEET (National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET-UG) for all candidates pursuing admission to graduate medical courses in all the institutes/colleges throughout India as per the Indian Medical Council Act 2019.
Important revision
Until last year, the initiations of AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) were given exemption from the above Act and were permitted to conduct their own exclusive entrance examinations and offer admissions as per performance in these examinations.
However, as per the latest revision made in the Indian Medical Council Act, admission procedure for both AIIMS and JIPMER has been brought under NEET.
Courses and places
All students pursuing any main medical graduate course in India such as General Medicine, Dentistry (MBBS and BDS) and also other medical systems such as Ayurvedha, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy have to write NEET and pass.
In current times, admissions to all the State-managed Educational Institutions, Universities, Deemed Universities, and Private Colleges are offered based only on the performance in NEET for all the national quota of seats, State quota of seats, and the quota for the foreign Indian Residents.
Selection Procedures
In NEET, 45 questions will be asked in each of the subjects of Physics and Chemistry. 90 questions will be asked for the question paper on Biology/Zoology.
The question paper s are set for a maximum of 720 marks with 4 marks allotted for each correct answer.
All the questions are based on the ‘multiple choice’ mode. Each wrong answer is given ‘-1’ mark (1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer).
Examination duration: 3 hours
Languages in which NEET question papers are set: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Odiya, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu as preferred by the candidates.
Important points to be noted
Items such as mobile phone, calculator, pen, belt, water bottle, etc. cannot be permitted inside the examination hall. Besides, there are some restrictions on the clothes worn as well. So, it is imperative that the candidates appearing for NEET MUST be thoroughly aware of the rules and regulations!
