Kerala, TN ghats - Heavy rains expected today with reducing in intensity from Sunday. From 9th September, Kerala and TN ghats (Nilgiris, Valparai, Theni and Kanyakumari) will see a drastic reduction in rains. But nothing to fear from these rains. The areas near Karnataka border in North Kerala will get higher rains than the southern counterpart.
Massive rains in Kodagu
Kodagu and Chikmagalur - Talacauvery in Kodagu has recorded massive 326 mm rainfall today while another Giant Naledi has recorded 265 mm, more heavy rains will continue today too. For Kodagu, there is no respite from heavy rains as it will continue till Monday. So there is going to be huge inflows into Cauvery catchment dams.
Krishna basin will again start to get huge inflows with rains again in the catchment.
Veeranam Lake is full thanks to Cavery rains. One end is covered.
So from 9th September, our time starts, the time for KTC, and other parts of Tamil Nadu for Convective Rains. The period of 9th to 17th September will be very good for Chennai and surrounding areas. Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Pondy, Cuddalore, Delta, Villupuram, almost most of the districts in the east coast and nearby interiors will have a feast in that one week spell. at least now keep your RWH systems ready. September storms are special.
After nearly a month, a 100 mm in Tamil Nadu ghats ending 8.30 am on 05.09.2019. Pollachi gets good rains after a month.
