Rank list for admission to veterinary courses in TN released

On Wednesday, 3rd July 2019, Tanuvas or Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University became cynosure of many eyes when it released the rank list for admissions into undergraduate courses such as B. Tech and B. V. Sc and AH.

Point is Dharmapuri based girl Swathi topped the list as she scored an amazing 199.5 marks out of total 200 marks. It must be noted that Tuticorin student Jane Sylvia scored 199.25 marks and was second. Kanyakumari student Harsha got 199 marks out of 200 and was third in the rank list. It is worth mentioning here that admission to the veterinary courses is based on the class 12 marks.

Tanuvas official website is www.tanuvas.ac.in and the students could verify their ranks by logging on to this website. The important information is in this year there is increase in the applications for B.V. Sc and AH course when compared to 2018. It is important to note that in this 2019 the number of students who applied for B. V. Sc and AH has gone up to 15,476 from the previous year 12000 applications received by Tanuvas. Another piece of information is applications for B. Tech have also increased in 2019.

It is now revealed that when compared to 2018, there has been 29 percent increase in the applications for B.V. Sc and AH. It was pointed out by animal husbandry minister, Mr. Udumalai. Radhakrishnan, for B.Tech the number of applications have increased by 14.64 percent. There were a total of 18,438 applicants and 17122 were eligible.

At the 4 veterinary colleges, as many as 360 seats are available for B.V. Sc and AH courses and 100 seats are available for B. Tech in food technology, poultry technology and dairy technology. The minister later hinted about starting of new veterinary colleges. In the third week of the month of July, counselling would take place and this was confirmed by Mr. Balachandran who is the vice-chancellor of Tanuvas. He then spoke about how the details of the candidates called for counselling, their cut-off marks and rank would be released on the official website.

Information collected is in 2018 OC cut-offs for B.V. Sc and AH was 196 out of total 200 marks. In this year, it is expected that the cut-offs would come down as the performances of class 12 students were poor.  The event also saw the presence of Mr. Gopal, secretary of AH, Dairy and Fisheries and Mr. Tensingh Gnanaraj, registrar of Tanuvas.
