18 important locations to be linked with bus and train services in the Metro Rail 2nd Phase

The 2nd Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project will be executed to provide the vital link between the Bus stations/stops, Flying Train (MRTS), and the Metro Railway Stations at 18 important locations.
Presently,2 corridors of the Chennai Metro train facility are operating covering a distance of 45 km. With the Metro Rail, some important locations such as airport, Egmore, Central, Koyambedu, Anna Salai, and Washermanpet has been linked.
Facilities such as shared auto or ‘call taxis’ at reasonably lower rates are being arranged to link the Metro Rail Stations and the residential localities. With this, there has been a substantial increase in the number of Metro Rail passengers. Around 95000 passengers travel daily in Chennai Metro Rail. On weekends and holidays, this number crosses 1 Lakh.
Meanwhile, with all the important facility aspects learnt during the Metro Rail 1st Phase, the 2nd Phase of Metro Rail is devised in such a way to increase the number of passengers to the maximum with easy access for the passengers to enter and exit to their destinations.
Accordingly, the links will be set up in 18 important locations to link the MRTS, Electric Train, Metro Rail Stations, and bus stations/stops in the 2nd Phase of Metro Rail.
In the corridor from Madhavaram-Siruseri, localities like Perambur, Ayanavaram, Chetpat, Royappettah, Mylapore, Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur and Sholinganallur will be linked.
In the corridor Light House- Poonamallee, locations such as Porur, Vadapalani, Kodambakkam, Nandanam, and Mylapore will be linked.
In the corridor Madhavaram-Sholinganallur, locations such as Villivakkam, Anna Nagar, Koyambedu Bus terminus, Alandur, St. Thomas Mount and Sholinganallur will be linked.
With the above link facilities, the public can easily avail all the utilities – Buses, Metro Rail, Electric Train, and MRTS. It will be easier to reach all the important hospitals in Chennai Metro City quickly.
