IIT Madras startup launches online programing courses

Here is a noteworthy initiative by an IIT-M startup that definitely needs mentioning. The startup aims at building a comprehensive online platform to aid engineering students hailing from rural areas to lean the abstract concepts of coding and enhance their problem solving skill.

This will lay a platform for students to learn different kinds of coding languages including Python, C++ and a few others, particularly in regional languages: Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

The startup working on it is GUVI. There was a community conference held at the IIT-M where it rolled out opportunity for the Tier-2 and 3 city students to have an opportunity to learn the  coding languages.

The  co-founder of GUVI, Mr. S.P. Balamurugan says  a lot of recruiters expect the students to be good at programing languages and have reasonable problem solving skills. With the online platform we are structuring now, students will have access to data structure algorithms and contemporary web technologies, he adds. The conference saw participation by leading recruiters including  Chargebee, Ionix, Linarc, GoFrugal, Juspay, Scapic, Infinity Software Solution, among others. So far, about 30,000 engineering students have got enrolled for GUVI online courses. GUVI offers a total of 45 courses as of now and there are 34 more to be added.
