Cancellation of class 5 and 8 board exams awaits circular

Posted on: 27/Feb/2019 2:56:28 PM
It has been 1 week since the Education Minister, K.A. Sengottaiyan made it clear that classes 5 and 8 will not have board examinations this year. Still, the circular rolled out among the school education department is not yet nullified.

With this as the loophole, there are a few private schools that demand board exam fees from those studying in their schools. So, a formal announcement in this regard is to be rolled out at the end of Chief Educational Officers.

On February 19, there were circulars rolled out by the CEOs where it was announced that there were changes done according to new amendments imposed on RTE Act, 2009 which were made by the Union Government in the year 2018. These were changes pertaining to r restrictions in schools that kept detaining students till class-8. According to new changes, regular exams can be conducted by the end of every year for class 5 and class 8.

Prince Gajendra Babu, an educationist says board exams and regular exams come with a lot of difference. The methodology for board exams goes as this: the exam is notified and question papers are set and the results are evaluated upon conducting tests. So, children are feared and get anxious and undergo trauma in their minds. On the other hand, when the children take up the exams right inside their school premises, they feel it to be a friendly atmosphere and take up exams with relaxed mind.
