The shocking piece of news that has come out now is Anna University or AU has withheld the examination results of more than 30000 first year engineering students belonging to more than 150 colleges affiliated to Anna University.

It was confirmed by a government source that the results were not released due to the college administration not paying the requisite fees and in addition to that it did not complete the certificate verification process. In the months of November and December in 2018, more than 90,000 students belonging to 500 odd engineering colleges took up the first semester examinations.

Important information collected is most colleges could access the results that were released on Friday, 15th February 2019 on the official website. The point is students belonging to 150 engineering colleges in TN could not get details about their scores. This had created huge confusions for the students and they approached their colleges. The university was contacted by these colleges and it was brought out that the results of the students were withheld because of non-compliance. It is important to note that for student affairs, every college must pay an amount of Rs 1200 per student to the Anna University office.

An official belonging to Anna University revealed that the colleges haven’t paid AU. Not only that some colleges have not yet completed the verification process 6 months after the students have got registered in the colleges. It must not be forgotten that even in the last year there was a similar issue in the release of final year semester results and colleges were pulled up for not sending enough staffs to evaluate the answer scripts of the students. As a result of that the students who wanted to study in abroad or those students who wanted to attend placements suffered. As per a parent of a student from Chennai, first year students are facing the issue now.

It was pointed out by a source belonging to AU that Tamil Nadu Directorate of Technical Education or TNDOTE should take the responsibility for not collecting the fees, details from the engineering colleges and submitting those to the university on correct time.
