Request for 4000Mw project turned down

The Union Environment Ministry has turned down the request for 4000 MW Ultra Mega Power Project which is presumably the largest in the state. This project as to constructe the power project at Cheyyur in Kancheepuram district.
The project of overall worth Rs 30,000 got returned by the appraisal committee of the ministry. The Coastal Tamil Nadu Power Limited is instructed to get the necessary environmental clearance from scratch.
In a letter written to the environment ministry in the date 15th January 2019 by the CTNPL project, it is mentioned that changes in environmental and CRZ clearance are necessary for the proposed project as there is change in fuel source.
