The details of the debate carried out in the Legislative Assembly yesterday (Tuesday, 12th February):

Ponmudi (DMK MLA) – As per the Amma Scooter Scheme, it had been announced that 1 Lakh scooters would be given to women in the year 2017-18 and another 1 Lakh scooter in the year 2018-19 for a total 2 Lakhs scooters. However, it is gathered that only 4300 scooters have been given so far!

State Minister Velumani -  Under this ‘Amma Scooter Scheme’,  82000 scooters have been given so far. Earlier there was a condition that the women had to pay some advance. Subsequently, a change has been carried out where the facility for the women to pay this amount through bank loans has been introduced. Thus, the money due can be paid in monthly installments.
