Free travel in the Chennai Metro Rail today as well (13th Feb)

The Chennai Metro Rail administration has announced that the public can travel in the Chennai Metro Rail 1st Phase routes today as well (Wednesday, 13th February) as well!
Recently, the new section of the Metro Rail operation between DMS and Washermanpet was inaugurated on 10th February. With this, the 1st Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project has been completed anis being fully operated.
In this 1st Phase of the Chennai Metro Rail Project, 2 corridors are being operated, one between airport and Washermanpet and the other between Chennai Central and St. Thomas Mount. There are 32 stations.
As an initiative to increase the number of passengers and the popular use of the Metro Rail and also to create awareness among the public, the Chennai Metro Rail administration had taken a decision and announced that the travel in the 1st corridor will be free for the public.
