Registered documents dating back 1865 can be retrieved with a mouse click

Registered document copies dating back 1865 will be made available soon online that can be accessed digitally. The State government initiated the works of digitizing all the registered documents of registration department with a sanctioned budget of Rs 89.17 crore. The scanning and microfilming of the documents from 1864 to July 5, 2009 are in progress and will be soon uploaded online for the public access.

J Kumaragurubaran, Inspector General of Registration announced the scanning of the documents converting the hard copies into digitized copies. With this new facility people need not visit the Sub-registrar office every time for receiving the copies of the registered documents. They can download the copies with a simple click of the mouse on the official website. A fee of Rs 50 per page will be collected for the online access of the registered documents.

Government order has been passed with the agreement of Registration Department and Administrative body of the state government sanctioning the budget for the digitalization of the documents. Administrative sanction is given for Rs 89.17 crore while financially Rs 35.67 crore has been sanctioned for the year 2018-19 for scanning the registered documents.

Tenders has been passed for the project of scanning the registered documents retaining the quality. The Inspector general added that the scanning work shall be finished with the existing staff and no contract staff will be included in the assigned work.
