Commuters seek share autos than share cars

Most of the Chennai Metro passengers seem to show better interest to travel in share autos than cars.
It is understood from the Chennai Metro Rail Limited officials that the share car services saw 2,634 passengers whereas share autos had whopping 16,163 passengers to commute from the Chennai metro stations. These reports pertain to dates between 11th and 31st August 2018.
Recalling the initiative, as a move to aid people with connectivity needs and equip them with travelling between metro station and their destination, on 11th August, a special share auto facility was launched at several stations including Alandur, Ekkatuthangal, Koyambedu, Guindy, Thirumangalam, Little Mount, St. Thomas Mount and Ashok Nagar. Likewise, share car services were launched at Anna Nagar ast, Alandur, Vadapalani, and AG-DMS.
These shared services encompass a distance of 3 km radius from the station. The rates are as follows
For share auto - the rate is Rs 10 as flat tariff
For share car - the rate is Rs 15 as flat tariff
The share car services are also cheaper, but we wonder why people dont show much interest as much as they do to share auto services, says a metro official.
Of all the stations where share car services is present, the maximum attraction for the service was observed at AG-DMS where 828 people had availed it, and the least users were at Vadapalani with just 145 numbers.
Likewise, coming on to assessing the share auto services, the maximum number of commuters were observed at Guindy where 3,806 people used share autos, and the least is with Ashok Nagar where a meagre number of 245 people were observed.
According to metro officials, there are many number of office goers hailing from Guindy and AG-DMS. They predominantly use share autos and cars to reach their offices. However, we are perplexed as to why people are not preferring the services in the remaining stations.
