More CBSE students in Arts and Science Colleges of Tamil Nadu

Arts and Science colleges of Tamil Nadu offers seats based on merit for the State board students in first come first serve basis as the results of the state board examinations will always be released before the CBSE examination results. This scenario gave wide opportunities for students from remote locations of Tamil Nadu to grab seats in the Art and Science departments. Now the selection of the students will be based on both the state board and CBSE merit as the results are released within a short span of time.
Some of the Art and Science colleges of Chennai are yet to release the shortlist of the selected students in various branches resulting in CBSE students getting enough time to apply. Also the CBSE results were published within a week of the release of State board 12th results. This further paved way for CBSE to students to grab more seats in Arts and Science Colleges of Tamil Nadu especially in Chennai.
One of the faculty member of the famous Loyola college of Chennai reported an added advantage for CBSE students this year in obtaining seats in their favorite areas easily competing the stat board students. Last year it took 18 days after the State board results for releasing the CBSE Class 12 results. This year the gap was very short leading to advantage of CBSE students.
There are many critical point of views in terms of college admissions for this year. Already there was a big chaos happening all around the nation for the medical admissions especially in Tamil Nadu. Now the preferences are mostly offered to city oriented schools of CBSE concerns that reduces the educational quantity in finding right institutions for rural students.
New College official reports said that the first selection list will be declared on May 29 directly linking the results of CBSE board examinations. There will be a combined list for both the categories of Class 12 merit selection. MOP Vaishnava and Stella Maris had already released the first selection list confirming enough seats for CBSE students as well.
Reports indicate a 10 percent seat allocations for CBSE students and the rest for other boards of education. For tackling this CBSE students apply for various Arts and Science Colleges outside Tamil Nadu. Some of the CBSE students told they have less time gap to apply for city colleges. Setting certain merit criteria in offering seats was requested by many CBSE students. Keeping the educational development of rural population in mind the Institutions have to take firm decisions in terms of seat allocations.
Since the admissions in the Chennai’s prestigious colleges like MCC, WCC, Stella Maris, and Loyola are more dependent on the merit based applications, Students from Chennai completing their schooling through CBSE boards expecting a better opportunity this year.
