Totally Re-modified Car Traffic Model at Chennai Airport

Posted on: 17/Apr/2018 12:29:48 PM
The newly planned Chennai Airport Traffic pattern for the cars will be commenced in another 20 days with some separate entry and exit points for major categories. This will reduce the car traffic congestion inside the airport in peak hours.

Airports Authority of India (AAI) has already executed the plan of building exclusive points of entry and exit for both domestic terminal and international terminal for Cars. It will be opened for public use after 20 days sorting out the final testing and verification of the new model.

Already a three hour testing trial was conducted on last Monday between 2 P.M to 5 P.M clearly indicated the confusion in the signage displays inside the airport and on the GST road. This leads to congested traffic inside the airport premises and now the problem has been sorted out. Another trial will be conducted very soon from the earlier trial feedback.

The reports from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said that the area of error took place in the signage displays of GST road and the airport campus connecting to the International Terminus. International terminal target were wrongly re-directed to domestic entry. The Domestic passage was completely error free and had a fine testing proof. So this confusion was rectified and signage displays are corrected in accordance with the feedback. Especially the travelers from the Tambaram side of the G.S.T road had many issues regarding the entry and exit point inside the Airport premises.

Many signage players will be installed in this particular junction of Airport entry and the exterior G.S.T Road, along the side of the old Airport entry where a new U-turn will be requested to Highways Department.

After all the necessary corrections are done the new system of Car trafficking will be introduced in 20 days without any further testing periods.

This new system will redirect the vehicles that comes from GST road to the domestic and international terminals with the two entries dedicated separately for both the departures. This will further routed via two new ramps which directly connects the route to the flyovers of the respective terminals. Therefore cars will have separate exit points where there will be no more meeting cross over of the domestic and international departures. The kind of new exit system will lead to a drastic reduction in the usual traffic congestion that happens as a result of conjunction of the vehicles in both terminals.
