From 15k to Rs 1450 crore, success story of C K Ranganathan

Back in 1983, C K Ranganathan left his home in Cudddalore with hardly Rs 15,000 with the spirit offsetting up his own business venture. He was 22 years then!
A few years ago, his dad had passed away. In the present day, he lives in a family house spread across 30-acre farmland.
With heavy heart, Ranganathan had to choose a tough decision as things didn’t seem to work well with his elder brothers in running their family business of producing Velvette Shampoo (which were very popular among customers earlier).
Ranganathan began his business endeavor by setting up a unit for Chik shampoo which grew into CavinKare Private Limited - a Rs 1450 crore turnover company that produces range of products including beverages, snacks, salons, dairy, personal care products, etc.
With Rs 15,000 in hand, Ranganathan found an ideal place to stay that was close to his family residence. He began his business with complete readiness to face any kind of difficulty and go out of comfort zone.
The success of Ranganathan is to be attributed to his quick decision making ability! Though in the initial days he did not want to compete with his siblings by making shampoos and looked for other options like setting up a poultry unit, he decided to go with shampoo making as it was all he knew!
In Puducherry at about 20 km distance from Cuddalore, he had set up a factory as the restrictions to set up manufacturing unit are very less. The very first product he made was Chik shampoo and sold for 75 paise per sachet of 7 ml. In just one month of leaving the house, he rolled out his product into the market! Now, Chik shampoo continues to belong to CavinKare range of products that makes Rs 1450 crore turnover.
Now, CavinKare products are sold across nations including Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. They have 2 overseas subsidiaries which are cavinKare Bangladesh Private Limited and CavinKare Lanka Private Limited.
